Ascocentrum ampullaceum is native to China, Assam, Bangladesh, Nepal, Mianmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam they live on leafy trees at an altitude of 300-1500 meters.

Ascocentrum ampullaceum is a miniature vandaceous orchid that like hot to warm conditions.

Ascocentrum ampullaceum flowers from spring through summer on a long (7-20cm) inflorescence that have many small flowers 2-2,5 cm in diameter.

Ascocentrum ampullaceum needs a light level of 25000-35000 lux.

Plants should never be exposed to direct midday sun. Strong air movement is a must.

Ascocentrum ampullaceum needs at least 80% humidity during summer that should be dropped to 55-60% for the winter and at the beginning of spring.

Can be grown in pots or mounted on cork slabs. If you grow them in pots always use good quality potting mix with medum sized bark.

Repot immediately when the substrate stars to decompose.

Watering should be done by soaking the plant for a short period of time.

 During winter watering should be reduced gradually so the plants can dry out between watering. In late winter and early spring for about a month watering should be limited to occasional early morning fogs.

Do not use fertilizers during the resting period.
