Dracula velutina is native to Columbia they grow at an altitude of 1220m. Dracula velutina is a small to medium sized epiphyte orchid.

Dracula velutina flowers during winter and spring the inflorescence arising from the bottom. The flowers are about 3-6cm in diameter the petals are white. The petals are covered with fine hair on the inside and have long and narrow purple tails growing from the tip.

Dracula velutina needs a light level of 12000-18000 lux. The plants can never be exposed to direct sunlight. Strong air-movement is a must at all times. If your plant does not bloom you can gradually increase the light level slightly.

Average daily temperature 28-31 degrees, night 16-18 degrees whole year.

Humidity must be at least 70%.

The cultivated plants should be watered regularly during active growth, when the new growth reach maturity in autumn the amount of water should be reduced. Fertilization should be eliminated during this time until spring.
